How to Create More Content in Less Time

In today’s digital age there is a never-ending need to create more content.

Whether it is emails, social posts, blog articles, whitepapers, ebooks, guides, podcasts, videos, slideshows there often does not seem to be enough time in the day to do it all.

But there are ways to increase the amount of content you can publish while lessening the time it takes to create.

High Volume Content Creation

You have two options you can employ to create more content.

1. You can outsource some or all of your content creation thus giving you more content and saving you lots of time.

The obvious downside is that you will have to invest money into this content and the amount of content you will receive will be limited by your budget.

Still, this may be a good option if there are activities that your skills are better suited to. While you may be able to wear multiple hats, sometimes specialising in the ones you are really good as is a better option.

2. You can get more efficient at creating content.

Efficiency means to get more done for the least amount of effort. Creating good content can take quite a bit of effort, so effieciency does not always come easily.

If you cannot or prefer not to outsource and you are stuff with the content creation hat then there is an approach you can take to create more content and save time.

It is time to employ a Multipurpose Content Strategy.

If you need or want to create more content then you will need to create content that can be used in many different ways.

There are different ways to approach this but it certainly requires some strategy and planning.

Lets look at a few examples.

1. An eBook can be broken down into multiple blog posts. These blog posts can be broken down into multiple emails. The emails can be broken down into several social posts and slideshows such as Instagram carousels.

In this example you would start by writing your ebook and then reusing it along with a little editing to create the other content.

2. Another option would be to gather together multiple blog posts and with a little editing turn them into an ebook as well as social posts, etc.

3. You could also record YouTube Videos and then separate the audio to be used for Podcasting.

The above strategy does however require you to plan your content first. It needs to be related in some way otherwise it may not make sense. You will also what to work out how to use each piece of content to support the other pieces of content.

If the content you create is also evergreen, in other words the information has value into the future and is not news type of content, then you will also be able to reuse your content for longer such as with repeated social posting.

While it is important to keep creating fresh new content, not all of your content has to be new and lets face it, on noisy social networks and in crowded inboxes your audience is going to still miss a lot of your content so reposting is not a bad strategy.
