There are a few ways you can easily and quickly improve your blog and get a little more of the reward, and a little less of the frustration.
Can you really Improve Your Blog in just 24 hours? Yes, you can. Here’s how:
As I’m sure you’ve discovered, blogging can be very rewarding, but it can also be frustrating and feel like you’re not getting where you want to go.
Quitting is definitely not going to get you there faster. So take a look through these and make these changes today.
1. Relook at your Tagline.
If you don’t have a tagline, create one. Your tagline needs to tell people instantly what your blog is about. This way your consumers will know if your blog is what they are looking for or not. It shouldn’t be cryptic or ‘clever’. Clarity trumps persuasion.
2. Make your blog accessible to everyone.
Are consumers able to look at your blog from any device? Phone, tablet, laptop, smart TV? There are so many devices now that people can potentially use to access your blog. Make sure your blog is designed so it can be read on any of these.
If you designed your blog yourself you should know enough on what to do on the back end to sort this issue out. If you had it built for you, it would be a worthwhile investment to have your site updated so it is accessible on everything.
3. Include social sharing buttons on your blog.
You should have as many social media platforms to share to as you possibly can manage. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Youtube, etc. and make it as easy as possible for people to share your content.
“We’re living at a time when attention is the new currency. Those who insert themselves into as many channels as possible look set to capture the most value. ” – Pete Cashmore, Founder of mashable.com
4. Include internal links wherever possible.
When you’ve been blogging for a little while you will have a good amount of articles sitting on your blog. The problem is, most often your most current work will show up as more relevant and get more views.
A lot of your older content will still be relevant and it took you a lot of time to research and write. So include internal links to your other blog articles so that you keep your their views up and you get the most out of them.
Internal linking also allows you to highlight other important content that may be related or interest your readers. For example if you are wanting to start a blog because you want to use it to promote your business or drive more traffic to your eCommerce website then it will be important that the articles you write link to your business pages as well as eCommerce products that may relate.
Did you notice how I just added two internal links?
5. Keep your site secure.
There are roughly tens of thousands of websites and blogs that get infected with malware each day. Don’t think that it will never happen to you.
If your site is hacked the financial cost and time set back can be extremely high. Setting up security for your site is simple and costs very little. Make sure your site is protected and backed up.
6. Have a Contact page.
If you don’t already have a contact page, add one. Whatever you are blogging about, the goal is to reach out to as many people as possible. Make yourself available so they can reach out to you.
Use this page to encourage your audience to connect with you on your social platforms as well.
7. Improve your headlines.
Your headline is what is going to grab or reader’s attention or put them off reading your article. There are some simple ways to make attention-getting headlines.
As mentioned in one of my other articles, people seem to like lists so including a number in your heading will already boost your blog.
Another way is to use power words in your title, you can get a list of these here. Lastly, sensory words also improve your chances of getting your article viewed. Take a look at the list of sensory words here.
What a difference a day makes. I hope you enjoyed these quick, simple steps you can take to improve your blog today.
