Discover some Surprising Blogging Stats and Trends that can Help You Grow Your Blog this year.

No matter what you blog about or what you are blogging for if you want to be a successful blogger you need to keep yourself up to date with these blogging stats and keep your blog relevant.

Your blog is what you make it, there are no hard, fast rules here. But knowing these blogging stats can help you make a good blog and make it great.

The below blogging statistics are applicable to any blog.

If you are a travel blogger, a tech blogger or even a blogger keeping your company blog full of great content. There is something to learn for everyone.

So here they are:

1. Companies who blog receive 97% more links to their website.

If you know the importance of linking then you’ll know that this is a very big deal. This stat shows just how much of a difference blogging can make to your business.

2. 36% of people prefer list-based headlines.

I’m not sure if lists are easier to read in their separate parts or why people seem to like them, but this stat definitely makes picking a headline or choosing your next article a lot easier.

When you work out your next article try to include a number in the headline and create a list.

3. The average word count of top-ranked content on Google is between 1,140 and 1,285 words.

This is definitely one of those key blogging stats to keep in mind when writing your articles. The key is not just to have super long articles but to keep your message natural and provide great quality content for your readers.

Think of what will be useful to the end-user when writing, more information rather than less is likely to be better received.

4. Using images in blog posts gets 94% more views.

Looks like images make a really big difference in whether your blog post gets looked at or not. Using an image won’t ensure your blog’s success, but it would seem that not including an image would be detrimental.

There are a few places where you can get decent images for free which you can use while you’re starting out. Pexels are really good, and so is Pixabay. There are a few others you can look for but these are my favourites.

5. Blog posts that incorporate video attract 3 times as many inbound links as those without video.

Looks like video is growing in popularity as well. It’s understandable as images and video are both easily consumed, so include videos where possible as well.

There are a couple of places where you can download stock videos, these are Pexels and Videvo

6. 409 million readers view more than 22.2 billion blog posts overall each month.

That is a lot of readers! And a lot of content. So don’t worry about putting out too much, there is no such thing. You could be writing 100 times a day on your blog and it would not hurt it.

The more you put out the better, people are looking for content.

7. The Number of US-based Bloggers is expected to reach 31.7 million in 2020.

More and more people are starting blogs. Don’t waste any more time deciding when to start your blog. Just start blogging, keep learning, and get ahead of the game!

8. Featuring a blog as a key part of your website will give you a 434% better chance of being ranked highly on search engines.

The reason you will do so much better with a blog is that search engines value fresh, useful content. Being consistent with your blogging will show your content is of value not only to search engines but to your readers as well.

9. Companies that blog have 55% more visitors to their websites.

Who doesn’t want lots more visitors? That’s why we’re here right? We’re not writing this stuff for ourselves.

This gives you an idea of how important your blog is your website and your business. Consistent, useful blogging is key.

10. 47% of buyers viewed 3-5 pieces of content before engaging with a sales rep.

Blogging content builds a relationship and builds trust. It is far easier to sell to a consumer who knows and trusts you than the one you are making contact with for the first time.

Your blog will build trust through the information and stories you share. The more you blog, the more likely you are to reach your target audience.

With these blogging stats, you can see how valuable your blog is to your business, no matter what it is.

Do you run a blog? What blogging stats do you think are the most important?
